A while ago, the wonderful cris from MCG Reviews and Rants nominated me for a Liebster award, and I, being horrible at following up on things, completely spaced on posting my reply. So, thank you cris, and also thank you to all you beautiful bloggers who’ve taken to following me. I hope I can continue to be entertaining to all of you while I go about my business, and I hope I can keep getting to know you through all your blogs!
About the award:
The Liebster Award is a “favourite blog award”, as Liebster is the German word for favourite, beloved, or dearest. It is meant for smaller blogs with less than two hundred followers to help expose them to the world and help them discover other new and upcoming bloggers.
Rules for nominees:
- Thank the person who nominated you
- When you receive the award, answer the 10 questions asked by the person who nominated you
- Pass the award onto 10 other blogs (while making sure you notify the blogger that you nominated them!)
- Write-up 10 NEW questions directed towards YOUR nominees
- You are not allowed to nominate the blog who nominated your blog!
1. Who’s your favorite author?
I have a lot of them, so my standard answer is C.S. Richardson, author of “The End of the Alphabet”. I have only ever read the one book by him, but its compact nature and utterly incredible emotional impact just… it’s amazing. You should definitely read it.
2. What movie would you recommend for everyone to see it?
The husband and I watched The Lego Movie last night, and it was adorable, so there’s that. As far as one of my favourites go, though, I would say The Big Sleep. Now usually I have mixed feelings about turning books into movies, but Raymond Chandler’s detective is so fantastically portrayed by Humphrey Bogart that I just always have to recommend it.
3. iPhone or Android smartphone?
I have an iPhone, but I miss buttons.
4. Best memory from high school?
That would be either acting in Murder Mystery dinner theatre, or that one time my friends and I were hanging out in the art room and positioned all the artist mannequins into sex positions all over the teacher’s desk and named them after life-saving maneuvers before we left them there for him to find after lunch.
5. What is your favorite tv show?
Veronica Mars. Just… I’m a Marshmallow. Hardcore. I even have the official backer Mars Investigations sticker on my laptop. I love the atmosphere, the noir-ness throwback, and, above all else, I love the characters. Rob Thomas does such a great job at storytelling, and creating realistic, flawed characters who grow and evolve throughout the series. As a storyteller myself, I always love characters that evolve like real people, you might say. On a more personal level, though, the show came out pretty much at the perfect time for me, and I spent my loner high school years growing up with the characters.
6. Best ethnic food?
I’m Turkish and Italian, so technically the food I grew up on is “ethnic”, but that said, I love lamb kebabs and sushi.
7. Best pet name?
If you mean pet name as in what people call me, my girlfriends call me J because my real name – Jacinta – is a mouthful. If you mean pet names as in those fluffy creatures who love you unconditionally forever and always and get fur all over stuff, then I’d have to say it really depends on the pet. My husband’s dog is called Mae and it fits her perfectly.
8. If you could move to any city, which one would it be?
If we’re talking all-expenses-paid including food, Paris, hands down. If not, then I don’t know, really. I’m a whole lot of wanderer. I’ll live wherever I can write, and my husband can bartend.
9. Best fictional world?
As far as backstory and all that goes, Middle Earth. Tolkein’s world is amazing, and I hope I can attain that sort of epicness one day. The world I would want to live in probably would have to be JRK’s Harry Potter universe, but only if I could be a witch. If I couldn’t be a witch, then I’d want to live in Braavos in Game of Thrones. Mostly because I would want to become a Faceless Man. So cool.
10. What question would you like to be asked and what would you answer?
I always want someone to ask me what my blog is about, mostly because I have exactly no idea. It’s a hodgepodge of everything and anything that pops into my head, and goes against all the rules of blogging I’ve ever come across. I don’t have a definite “about”; the reader – nor I! – know what the next post is going to be about. Sometimes I give cooking tips, sometimes I post fiction pieces I’m working on, and sometimes I just rant. I even write reviews of things sometimes! I’m a grabbag of randomness, and though I don’t mind it, it’s not exactly what one would expect from a blogger trying to make a go at it, I suppose. Target audience? Please.
Now, I need to nominate some folks, and to ask them some questions.
